5 Simple Fall Home Decor Tips for the Minimalist!

Minimalist Fall Home Decor Ideas
After nearly 40 years, it’s hard to believe that the Edmonton Home Shows have now been on hiatus for almost two years!!! We are so thrilled that the Edmonton Fall Home Show will be making its triumphant return- safely of course- this upcoming weekend, October 15-17th, 2021. It’s just in time to get the best fall home decor ideas!
In my opinion, the timing could not be better!! The change of season always has me itching to switch up our home decor… but, I am a minimalist! While I love fall home decor, it’s always a challenge for me to incorporate seasonal items while still maintaining a clean and sleek vibe in my home.
Enter the Watermark Shop! Watermark in an Alberta based business, and offers decor for a cozy + peaceful home. The lovely ladies of Watermark– Jenn & Carrie- have been so helpful in making some simple and inexpensive suggestions to Fall-ify my home while still maintaining the minimalist integrity of our space!
Here are 5 Fall Home Decor Ideas for the Minimalist:
1. Fall Candles
Speaking of simple, popping some cute fall scented candles around the home is a quick and
delightful way to embrace the new season. Cider, clove and cinnamon are some of the scents in
their fall candle line-up, which are reminiscent of the holidays and all things cozy… oh, and we
can’t forget Pumpkin Spice! Not only do these candles add a cute and modern design touch to
any space, but they also obviously smell amazing and are sure to get you into the fall mood.
2. Layer in Cozy Textiles
Bringing in some natural fabrics and woven patterns, can add that inviting, yet modern touch to your living room or bedroom. They can also bring interesting texture to your look, which is an often overlooked aspect of home decor. Turkish throws are a great option not only for their look, but because their long, Turkish cotton fibres are super soft and durable (and they get softer with each wash!) Turkish throws also look gorgeous in so many settings – draped over furniture, hanging from a blanket ladder or thrown over the end of a basket near your favorite chair. They are sure to make you want to cozy up on those cold nights.
3. Amber Accents
An easy way to pull in a fall feel in your décor is to bring in some accents in fall colors such as amber, mustard and brown. The fall colour palette draws its inspiration from the changing leaves and tones outside. So swapping out a few accessories with fall-toned items can go a long way in changing the look and feel of your home for the season. We love these amber glass bottles from The Watermark Shop for that reason. Not only do they look simply stylish in the kitchen or bathroom, you can feel good about your environmental footprint by refilling them rather than throwing out countless plastic bottles.
4. Earthy Elements
Not only are earth tones in for fall, but adding natural, earthy elements to your room can make your space feel warmer and more inviting anytime of year. Natural elements such as jute, wood and wicker tend to have a calming effect in a room and bring a certain degree of character to your space since natural decor is often handmade – making each piece unique.
5. Little Design Touches
You don’t have to change everything in your room to decorate for the season. Simply adding some accessories into the mix as a final touch can sometimes be all you need. Look for small accessories to dress up your centrepiece, mantle or shelves, that pull in some of the above tips – neutral fall tones, natural fabrics, and earthy materials. Swapping out accessories for the season can be a fun way to keep your space looking fresh without breaking the bank. One example is these wood and jute beads that can wrap around a vase on the mantle or rest in a coffee table tray.
